From lennyvaljas.blogspot.com -:- The remaining spots on the Olympic team will be decided at 4 races in the space of 11 days. The first qualifier was a 15km skate (interval start) at Silver Star, B.C. I love this distance! I felt great that morning having overcome a chest cold earlier that week. I was off to a fast start and never felt better. After 5km I wasn’t tired, and the splits I got, let me know that I was within 10 sec of the leader

Please note conditions are NOT optimal. A 4.2km classic loop has been shoveled several times. There is insufficient snow for a free technique course. Our groomer will set a single classical track with snow on the sides to facilitate passing. Stay tuned for format and distance updates. Thank you for your continued patience. Please stay tuned for updates at http://www.lappenordic.ca/.

From XCOttawa.ca -:- The first NorAm races are done! The stakes were high for Saturday’s race as it was the Olympic Trials as well as the trials for the Canmore World Cup in early February. Gord Jewett and Dasha Gaiazova were the top Canadians and while nobody really knows, their results could give them a berth in the Olympics. XC Ottawa had four skiers competing this weekend. Saturday’s race was a 10/15km skate race.

From www.seancrooksonline.com -:- As I sit down to write in my blog, I think back to the events of the weekend in Silver Star. As usual in the Star, it was a great week of training and racing at an unbelievable venue. Considering that I am not a strong distance skater, I had a decent 15km. The sprint was a solid race, getting on the podium.

By Len Valjas -:- I’ve been in Silverstar for over a week now. I had a great week of skiing. There is a ton of snow here, and it just keeps on falling. The skiing has been amazing all week. It was a hard week of training for me. I skied twice a day everyday, followed by some shinny hockey on the pond most nights.

By Jordan Cascagnette -:- My first two races of the season are now in the books, having the Alberta Cups 1 and 2 this past weekend here in Canmore. They started off on Saturday with classic sprints, which did not go quite as I had hoped. I ended up leaving too much time between my warm up and the start of my qualifier, so by the time it was my turn to go the effects of my warm up had worn off quite a bit.
